Today I spent the day with Kanaka. In the morning we went to Austin Elementary in Vermillion, SD, to hang out with the kindergartners. We helped them with reading and writing. Once that was done, it was finally time for recess! We got to play tag with all the kids outside; it was so much fun. After recess with the kindergartners, we went to HeadStart. We learned about plants and flowers! We only got to stay there for an hour. When we were done at Austin, we came home for an hour, ate lunch, then headed to the library. We worked on Kanaka's Language Arts final, and her Grammar final. We were there for 5 hours! When we got home from the library, we watched some T.V., and returned some emails. Now its almost 8:30 and I am pooped. I think I'm going to go relax.
Thanks for reading about my day!

Attending Angela's Birthday!
Hi I'm Marty! Today, I got to spend a whole 24 hours with Angela Di Benedetto. Not only that, it was her 21st birthday! We started the day by going to teach 6th and 7th grade language arts at Elk Point-Jefferson Middle School. It was really fun to watch Angela teach a lesson on capitalization to her students. After a long day at school, it was time to start the birthday festivities. First, Angela's best friend, Lindsey, came to Alpha Phi. Alpha Phi is the sorority Angela is a part of, and the Alpha Phi house is where I got to stay for the night. Once Lindsey got there, it was time to meet up with Angela's parents and grandparents for dinner at Mexico Viejo. It was great! We got enchiladas and margaritas! I watched as Angela opened presents with her family. Then, it was time to go downtown, Vermillion. We went to Carey's and then to the Char Bar. It was definitely an interesting and LONG night. The next morning, Angela was very tired and ready to pass me along. We had a great time together!

Hi Everybody!!!! My name is Metro the whale. I am Marty's aquatic cousin. Marty and I were talking, and we both decided that Yankton was much too far of a trip to make, so, already being in that area, I told Marty I would go to Niki's house - and what an awesome choice! When I got there I was greeted with hugs and kisses from Brody; he is an AWESOME almost-two-year-old, who likes all the same things I do! Brody and I shared a pop-tart (Wild Berry, Yum!), and we played with his trains, trucks, and tractors. Brody was such a gracious host. Niki, on the other hand, didn't seem to have much time to show me around the place. She kept looking through her notebooks and papers (she must have a busy week ahead of her?). Niki did get a chance to snap this wonderful picture of Brody and me sharing the pop-tart - he is so nice! I liked staying wtih Brody so much, that I've decided that I'm moving in! Bedtime stories and kisses are the best! Brody cuddles me every night, snug as a teddy bear :)

A Day with Jody and Sophie
Hi, its Marty! I just had a great day with Jody. She brought me to Reading Methods and Social Science Methods. In class we studied for Jody's final next week. After class, we went and picked up Jody's daughter, Sophie, from the babysitters. When we got home I helped feed Sophie then got to play with her when she had tummy time. She liked to stare at me! After eating sloppy joes for supper, it was time for bed. I got to snuggle with Sophie in her crib. We had to wake up early the next day for school. Sophie even dressed like me in her zebra pants! I had so much fun and made a new friend.

First Day at Work!
Today I had a long day with Katie at Cafe Brule. It was her first day at the coffee shop and I could tell she was nervous! When we got there she learned how to make coffee, which was really interesting. Being a zebra and all, I think coffee is tastes like dirt. Katie and her coworkers really seem to like it though. She worked an eight hour shift so by the time we were done, our feet really hurt. We headed back to her apartment and relaxed on the couch watching Khloe and Lamar on E!. I have never seen this show before but I fell in love with it! Someday I want to find a love like Khloe and Lamar. Well that's all for now!

A Afternoon With Lacey
OMG, I can TOTALLY tell it’s the week before finals. Everyone is going crazy and acting like maniacs!
I had the pleasure of seeing Lacey at her finest this week. The two of us hung out and did an afternoon
filled with health and grammar. I helped
Lacey look up sentences in children’s books and write detailed integrated
lesson plans. This took us forever,
literally. We were so wiped out. All Lacey was doing was complaining, so I suggested
we relax and watch her absolute favorite show, One Tree Hill. I can see why she is completely obsessed with
the show. She claims the men are gorgeous,
but the girls are beautiful and hilarious!
We spent way too much time watching the show, but it was a blast!

A Jam Packed Day With Martha
Seriously! Can't a giraffe catch a break? It is like these
college students never have a off switch, and my new friend Martha is no
different. For just turning twenty two on Monday, she has the energy of a
cheetah. It is like she never takes a moment to sit down and smell the flowers.
First, we sat in her morning language arts class. It was so much fun! We got to
work in groups, evaluate her teacher, and we even got to listen to a story.
After class, we went back to her house where we worked on her grammar mini
lesson. Being little, I was starting to get bored, and wonder when all the
excitement was going to happen. Finally, four
o'clock rolled around and it was time to go to her assessment
class. Sadly, it was not much fun because, I had to sit quietly and listen in
on five IEP meetings. We then headed to the MUC to pick up a salad for dinner. Boy did it look tasty! After picking up our dinner, we came
home and I got to see her mother over Skype. Technology is so cool! She then
told me it was time for us to go to the Wellness
Center . When we got there we went
to a Kisado class. In that class, we had to do agility, cardio, bag work, and
abdominals. Tonights emphasis was cardio. Martha complained because that was
not her favorite. And, after having to do ten minutes of cardio it was not my
favorite activity either. We then decided to stay and do a little Zumba. That
class was so much fun! We did alot of spinning and shaking. Well it is time for
dinner and then back to hitting the books. All my love, Marty and Martha

Day with Brittney Bakke
Today I joined Brittney in PE methods. The teacher was a
real hoot! Brittney secretly did some grammar homework and started filling in
her planner for the rest of the year. I assisted and wrote “summer!” on May 4th.
Brittney seemed a little overwhelmed with the idea of EVERYTHING being due by
next Friday, but yet so excited to be done with school. After class we took a
ride in her sweet stable Sable to her little, tiny apartment. We got home and
met Brittney’s fiancĂ©. I am partial to women, but WOW Casey was a good lookin’
guy! I decided a night at the library with them would be a great time, so off
we went. She lent me some head phones to block out the sound of obnoxious
collage kids, and jammed to some good country music. Brittney played a lot of
summer, lovey dovey songs. It must be because of the wedding planning; I believe
it is July, 6th, 2013. After the library we headed home and that’s when
Brittney tucked me in on her favorite chair and I fell fast asleep. Gosh,
Brittney is a lucky girl!
A Day With Jordan
Today I met up with Jordan for a fun filled day. I met up with him in class where we sat and listened to some interesting topics. After class we hustled over to the dome for basketball practice. First we lifted weights, which was really hard for me because I don't weigh very much. After about an hour of lifting we headed downstairs and played basketball for over 2 hours! Jordan played with all of his teammates so I was very content on just watching. After practice we grabbed a quick shower and bite to eat at the muc, then headed straight over to the library. We did a ton of homework for the night and were there really late but it was fun because Jordan learns really interesting stuff! After a full day we headed back and fell asleep in no time, I was exhausted!

Eggs are My Fav!
I finally arrived at Annie's house after a long day of class and tutoring, but before I knew it we were headed to work at the Cherry Street Grille. While I was at the Grille, I learned a new phrase "eggs are my fav". I spent the evening with Annie serving oodles of customers delicious food. Once it was finally closing time, we got to eat some grub and man was I ready! I threw out an eggs are my fav just for good luck and it was just the perfect amount of eggs on my #101 omelet! This was the perfect snack before we headed home. Now I must continue on my journey!

My Day With Joe
Today I met up with Joe at his Children's Lit class where the teacher read us a Curious George book. I really enjoyed it but Joe almost fell asleep! After class we went back to his apartment where I met his girlfriend Ashley, she was such a nice lady! After I met Ashley we sat down and watched soccer! Chelsea was playing Barcelona and boy was it an exciting game to watch. After we watched soccer Joe and I just hung out until we went to baseball practice. Baseball was pretty fun but Joe had to leave early to go to his CoEd softball game, they won! When we were finally back at Joe's apartment after softball we sat down and watched the Twins beat the Yankees, it's crazy how much Joe likes sports. As of right now Joe is watching another soccer game while I am hanging out with Ashley and his cats, Simba and Rafiki. They are being pretty nice to me and I'm having a lot of fun with them, they even let me chase there laser! Well I have to get back to playing! Catch ya later!

Adventures with Rachael
I had such an exciting day with so many activities. I started off waking up really early so that Rachael could finish a paper that was due at noon. I was starving by the time she was finished but lucky for me we had a delicious lunch of cornbread and chili. After that we went to Austin elementary to the Head Start classroom where we observed for her paraprofessional. After class we got to go play powder puff football where we won first place. I then got to go on a bike ride to watch a little sand volleyball then we were off the the library for the rest of the night!

A fun day with Jenny!
Well hello everyone!!! I got to spend last Tuesday with Jenny and what a busy day it was. I had the pleasure of joining her in her Reading Methods class and P.E class. Both were so fun, all I want to do now is read while I play games! Right after P.E class I took a little nap while Jenny went off to work. When she returned I was able to enjoy some milk and cookies. Then I assisted her with her homework. This is a pic of me holding on tight while Jenny darted between classes. It was a productive and fun experience that I really enjoyed.
Thursday with Shanise!
Hello, it’s Marty again. I spent the whole day with Shanise last Thursday! First, we got up for class. Shanise isn’t a morning person but we made it through. Next, we went to preschool! This is where I opened my first cookie shop. I’m in business with a 5 year old. We have big plans! We even had the opportunity to sit in on story time! I love to read. I had a lot of fun running around with my new friend, Shanise. I can’t wait for my next adventure!
Love, Marty

My Day with Caitlin
Today, Kayla passed me along to Caitlin in Children's Literature with Dr. Hazlett. We chatted about how much fun I had been having with Kayla for a little while before class started. I was not sure exactly what Dr. Hazlett was talking about during class, maybe because I am just a zebra who does not plan on teaching other tiny zebras when I grow up. From what I gathered, the class passes around books for tiny humans and decides if the tiny humans would like them or not. There are plenty of books about cats in that class, I noticed, but none about zebras! I was appalled and very offended! Everyone seems to forget about us zebras since we are not very good house pets. Well, most of us are not very good house pets. I think I have been a very polite guest to every member of ELED 343 that I have had the pleasure of staying with. I am feeling sort of stressed lately since I have quite a few new friends to make before finals week, and I think Rachael is next on my list. Caitlin says I should not worry though, because she and her friends have plenty more work to worry about than I do! I believe her because she sure spends a lot of time typing papers! I guess it's not so bad to be a zebra, after all.

My weekend with Marty
Kayla got me on Friday from Shanise. I sat through two classes and then headed on a long road trip to a fraternity formal at Jackpot Junction. I had never gambled before and Kayla took me. I thought it was really fun and exciting! I even won some money and boy was Kayla excited about that! It was a really long night and by the time Kayla went to bed I was really tired! The next day we woke up and went out to eat for lunch at Pizza Ranch and the buffet was yummy. Then Kayla let me lay out by the pool during the day for a break. Later that night I watched her get ready for formal. It was really fun gambling later that night as well. Kayla ended up a little ahead instead of losing money. I thought it was so exciting and when it was over for the night, we headed to bed. The next morning Kayla grabbed me and placed me in the car for the long car ride home! But it was overall an exciting and fun adventure for me because I had never gambled before. I would love to go back with Kayla again sometime! Now Kayla will give me to Caitlin, lets see what kind of adventure I will experience next! Thanks Kayla, I had a great weekend!

My Day with Lauren
Since Lauren and Karissa live together, I was able to start hanging with Lauren right away. That Tuesday, I went to Reading Methods with Lauren. The information that Dr. Gapp was really interesting, I think, I'm not really sure cause I'm not going to be a teacher. Then we went to lunch with them and I have a something called the Wok. I'm not sure what it was, but it was good. Then we went to Lauren's PE Methods class. Holy Alex! That teacher had activities for us to do that were a really good workout. After that, Lauren took me to BSA. The kids had a great time playing with me. I loved the slides, especially the twister one. It was AWESOME!! I also loved the swings and the kids loved pushing me on them, too. Once we got home, I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. So Lauren got me cleaned up and tucked me in and wished me sweet dreams so I would be ready to go visit Abby.

A Day with Amanda
Hey it's Marty! Today I went to classes with Amanda. I helped her study for a test. It was a lot of information and looked hard. Glad she took it and not me! At night, I helped her address her wedding invitations. Wow there are alot of them! When we were finished, I was exhausted and went to bed.
My day with Abby
Abby really likes to run, so the first thing we did together was go for a run. Wow! I was exhausted! Then I drank a huge glass of water and ate the roast beef we had been cooking all day. It was DELICIOUS! After that, we did some homework. She told me she is taking 23 credits! I don't know what that means, but she seems really busy. We didn't do much, but we sure were tired. She tucked me in early because we had to wake up for her classes.

A Day With Samantha!
Hello friends! :)
I had a great day with Samantha. I tagged along to all of her classes and for the most part they were very boring. After school, Samantha had to get ready to go to work, at Casey's. While she was getting ready for work, I watched television. Shortly after that we went to work. Samantha was so busy making pizza, I just tried to stay out of the way! Yay, we were off work! After work we just hung out and had a chill night. It was so relaxing! I had a great day, but I'm ready for my next adventure! Bye bye for now, Marty.

A Day with Karissa
Whoa! The life of a college student is busy! I joined up with Karissa during Language Arts Methods. I had to sit through that class, learning about how to write a memoir. That is something to consider....a story about a memorable moment in my life. Hmmmm. Nah I give up. There are too many to choose from! So after that class, Karissa and I headed to Children's Literature, which was um thrilling I guess is the only word to use. I played musical desks between Lauren and Karissa. When we finally were done with that class, Karissa brought me back to her dorm room, the place that she lives nine months out of the year. It was shocking really....I mean that room is TINY! How do two people live in there? CRAZY I tell you! Anyways I settled in next to Karissa's computer on her desk, and watched her pull out about five different books to do homework. I wish I could tell you what she did and how much I learned from it but I kind of, well sort of fell asleep for awhile. But who can blame me? I don't know how you college kids do it. I really don't. Karissa woke me up from my "reading the back of my eyelids" session in order to take me to supper in the lovely commons. I met up with her friends, who are pretty awesome let me tell you! I giggled the whole time....especially when Karissa tripped over nothing. I have no idea how she does that. Then it was off to class where lucky me got to hang out in Karissa's backpack with only my head peeking out. I watched as the entire class, in pairs of two or just individuals presented lessons with an accompanying physical activity. They kept talking about the importance of physical activity and here I was stuck in a backpack! Oh well, Karissa let me out to finally stretch my legs when we got back to the dorm room. Then she did more homework and I napped. Again. Well I shouldn't say napped. I was watching a movie....on the back of my eyelids. The movie was so interesting that I didn't even notice when Karissa climbed up into bed! It was such a long movie that the next thing I remember was being woken up by Karissa also falling off her desk. I don't know how this girl is still alive. I have just learned to not ask questions. When she and Lauren were finally ready to go, I was loaded into my usual backpack spot and off we went to Reading Methods where it became Lauren's turn to broaden my horizons. On that note see you in the next chapter of the Marty Adventures!

A Day With Blossom!!!
Marty here!! Today I got to spend the day with Blossom! I started the day really early by going to work with her. She works at Kids of Character daycare and let me tell you......it was loud and crazy! Those kids sure can make a lot of noise!! It was Friday so I they had doughnuts for breakfast which were delicious!! Then we got to play outside! I loved the tire swing!!! After work, Blossom took me to a couple classes with her which were much less exciting then the daycare. It was a good day but I am glad it is the weekend. Hopefully I get some rest while spending time with Shelby! Thats all for now!

Marty's day with Amber
Hello friends! I got to spend the day with Amber and she took me to her classes at USD in Vermillion, SD. I got to go to children's lit with Amber and reading all kinds of children's books. My favorite one was, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I also got to learn about poerty and fairy tales. Amber also took me to her Language Arts class and I didnt pay attention very well. I liked children's lit better, because I could read books that I like! I had a great day with Amber and it was interesting to see what her classes were like. I hope to spend another day with Amber soon, but now I am excited to see what Samantha has planned for me next! Bye Bye for now! Marty :)

A Day with Shelby
Wow! I had an eventful day with Shelby today! I got to go with her for her first day of internship in 7th grade Language Arts at Vermillion Middle School. It was a day filled with spelling and reading about the Halocaust! It was fun to see all the kids and see what their school days are like! After a day at school I went back to Shelby's sorority for the night. We attended the weekly meeting followed by some homework. After all our hard work we decided to treat ourselves to some Dairy Queen! It was delicious! I had a great day with Shelby and can't wait for my next adventure! Have a good week! Marty

Quality time with Anna
Hello! Marty the zebra here! It's Wednesday, March 21, 2012 and what a day it was. Yesterday I spent the day with that Kelsey Paskert girl... don't be fooled by my blog- she was hovering the entire time so I couldn't share my true feelings. Let's just say I am extremely grateful to be in Anna's loving hands today! Kelsey and Anna are actually roommates so I already felt comfortable in their apartment which was nice- it takes a toll on a zebra living out of a suitcase! First thing I noticed about Anna was her lovely design taste. As you can see in my picture, her bed sheets are zebra print!!!!! I felt right at home. My day started by waking up and going to her 9:00am class: SPED 460. She had to give a presentation with her group and she did a pretty good job! I think she was a little bit nervous but she pulled it off. After class we had breakfast together and Anna did some last minute homework. That girl likes to procrastinate.... yikes. After that we just hung out at her apartment and at 12:00 we went to her Language Arts Methods class followed by Children's Literature. Then we came home, had lunch, made a trip to Wal-Mart, and spent the rest of our time at Anna's apartment. All-in-all it was an uneventful day- nothing too special but it was nice to relax and take things easy. Tomorrow I am going to spend the day with Blossom so that should be fun! I will miss Anna dearly but I'm ready for a new adventure!
That's all for now- goodnight bloggers- time to watch The Challenge!!!!!!!!!!
Peace and blessings, Marty-the-Man Zebra
My fun adventure with Kelsey
Marty here! I finally got passed off to Kelsey Tuesday morning. I was glad to meet her and she looked like a pretty fun girl. On my first adventure, I went back to Kelsey's house and met all her roommates. They seemed very nice, even though I was a little iffy at first. Then it was time to have some lunch. Kelsey was a great host and made me a piece of pizza. It was very delicious. Next, I had to hop into Kelsey's car to go to class. It was kind of boring sitting through a class, but I enjoyed getting to look at all the pretty ladies. Finally class was over and it was time to head back to Kelsey's house. I sat on the couch and watched television with Kelsey and her roommates. I was excited because we got to watch Disney channel and I loooove that station! Then Kelsey told me she had to work tonight and said I could tag along with her. I was extremely excited at first, but then when I got to her work all I did was sit there. I thought Kelsey had a better job than that. But I did get to sit by the cash register and watch all the customers coming in and out of the store. I even had some children pet and play with me while their parents checked out. I was exhausted when I got back to Kelsey's house. I was excited to lay down and go to bed. Before I went to bed, Kelsey told me some great news. She said that the next person that gets to have me for the day is her roommate. That means I will not be leaving this wonderful house for another night! I was sooo happy! I had a great day/night with my friend Kelsey.

My New Adventures with Danielle :)
Where do I begin?! I got to hang out with Danielle all weekend long. We did a lot of fun things, but she was also boring at times too. First, she buckled me in and we went all the way to her hometown of Flandreau. Whoa was that a long drive for me. She had to work so she drug me along and I had sat at the bar with some strangers. On Saint Patrick's Day she again drug me to work where I just sat at the bar again. We didn't do anything when she got off, but went home. On Sunday she woke me up at 3 IN THE MORNING so we could drop her boyfriend off at the airport. I finally got to sleep at 6 and was back up at 9. I was exhausted in the morning, but we still had to go to church and teach Sunday school. Sunday afternoon I FINALLY got a nap in while Danielle did laundry. I offered to help, but she said that I should rest. When I woke up from my nap, Danielle said we were going over to some friends house to grill out. That was a lot of fun! Then on Monday morning she again buckled me in and we made the trip back to Vermillion where I was meeting up with Amber. I had a lot of fun with Danielle and all of her co-workers, friends, and family, but now I am excited to see what Amber has planned with me! Until next time, Marty. :)
