My Long Day!

Today I spent the day with Kanaka. In the morning we went to Austin Elementary in Vermillion, SD, to hang out with the kindergartners. We helped them with reading and writing. Once that was done, it was finally time for recess! We got to play tag with all the kids outside; it was so much fun. After recess with the kindergartners, we went to HeadStart. We learned about plants and flowers! We only got to stay there for an hour. When we were done at Austin, we came home for an hour, ate lunch, then headed to the library. We worked on Kanaka's Language Arts final, and her Grammar final. We were there for 5 hours! When we got home from the library, we watched some T.V., and returned some emails. Now its almost 8:30 and I am pooped. I think I'm going to go relax.

Thanks for reading about my day!

Attending Angela's Birthday!

Hi I'm Marty! Today, I got to spend a whole 24 hours with Angela Di Benedetto.  Not only that, it was her 21st birthday!  We started the day by going to teach 6th and 7th grade language arts at Elk Point-Jefferson Middle School.  It was really fun to watch Angela teach a lesson on capitalization to her students.  After a long day at school, it was time to start the birthday festivities.  First, Angela's best friend, Lindsey, came to Alpha Phi.  Alpha Phi is the sorority Angela is a part of, and the Alpha Phi house is where I got to stay for the night.  Once Lindsey got there,  it was time to meet up with Angela's parents and grandparents for dinner at Mexico Viejo.  It was great! We got enchiladas and margaritas! I watched as Angela opened presents with her family.  Then, it was time to go downtown, Vermillion.  We went to Carey's and then to the Char Bar.  It was definitely an interesting and LONG night.  The next morning, Angela was very tired and ready to pass me along.  We had a great time together!

Hi Everybody!!!! My name is Metro the whale. I am Marty's aquatic cousin. Marty and I were talking, and we both decided that Yankton was much too far of a trip to make, so, already being in that area, I told Marty I would go to Niki's house - and what an awesome choice! When I got there I was greeted with hugs and kisses from Brody; he is an AWESOME almost-two-year-old, who likes all the same things I do! Brody and I shared a pop-tart (Wild Berry, Yum!), and we played with his trains, trucks, and tractors. Brody was such a gracious host. Niki, on the other hand, didn't seem to have much time to show me around the place. She kept looking through her notebooks and papers (she must have a busy week ahead of her?). Niki did get a chance to snap this wonderful picture of Brody and me sharing the pop-tart - he is so nice! I liked staying wtih Brody so much, that I've decided that I'm moving in! Bedtime stories and kisses are the best! Brody cuddles me every night, snug as a teddy bear :)

Happy in my New Home :)

A Day with Jody and Sophie

Hi, its Marty! I just had a great day with Jody. She brought me to Reading Methods and Social Science Methods. In class we studied for Jody's final next week. After class, we went and picked up Jody's daughter, Sophie, from the babysitters. When we got home I helped feed Sophie then got to play with her when she had tummy time. She liked to stare at me! After eating sloppy joes for supper, it was time for bed. I got to snuggle with Sophie in her crib. We had to wake up early the next day for school. Sophie even dressed like me in her zebra pants! I had so much fun and made a new friend.

First Day at Work!

Today I had a long day with Katie at Cafe Brule. It was her first day at the coffee shop and I could tell she was nervous! When we got there she learned how to make coffee, which was really interesting. Being a zebra and all, I think coffee is tastes like dirt. Katie and her coworkers really seem to like it though. She worked an eight hour shift so by the time we were done, our feet really hurt. We headed back to her apartment and relaxed on the couch watching Khloe and Lamar on E!. I have never seen this show before but I fell in love with it! Someday I want to find a love like Khloe and Lamar. Well that's all for now!

A Afternoon With Lacey

OMG, I can TOTALLY tell it’s the week before finals.  Everyone is going crazy and acting like maniacs! I had the pleasure of seeing Lacey at her finest this week.  The two of us hung out and did an afternoon filled with health and grammar.  I helped Lacey look up sentences in children’s books and write detailed integrated lesson plans.  This took us forever, literally.  We were so wiped out.  All Lacey was doing was complaining, so I suggested we relax and watch her absolute favorite show, One Tree Hill.  I can see why she is completely obsessed with the show.  She claims the men are gorgeous, but the girls are beautiful and hilarious!  We spent way too much time watching the show, but it was a blast!

A Jam Packed Day With Martha

Seriously! Can't a giraffe catch a break? It is like these college students never have a off switch, and my new friend Martha is no different. For just turning twenty two on Monday, she has the energy of a cheetah. It is like she never takes a moment to sit down and smell the flowers. First, we sat in her morning language arts class. It was so much fun! We got to work in groups, evaluate her teacher, and we even got to listen to a story. After class, we went back to her house where we worked on her grammar mini lesson. Being little, I was starting to get bored, and wonder when all the excitement was going to happen. Finally, four o'clock rolled around and it was time to go to her assessment class. Sadly, it was not much fun because, I had to sit quietly and listen in on five IEP meetings. We then headed to the MUC to pick up a salad for dinner. Boy did it look tasty! After picking up our dinner, we came home and I got to see her mother over Skype. Technology is so cool! She then told me it was time for us to go to the Wellness Center. When we got there we went to a Kisado class. In that class, we had to do agility, cardio, bag work, and abdominals. Tonights emphasis was cardio. Martha complained because that was not her favorite. And, after having to do ten minutes of cardio it was not my favorite activity either. We then decided to stay and do a little Zumba. That class was so much fun! We did alot of spinning and shaking. Well it is time for dinner and then back to hitting the books. All my love, Marty and Martha
